With the end of the Black Office Arc, I'm now changing this journal into an RP one. Most of the action will be related to the Nexus (aka [info]sages_of_chaos) but I'll be dumping stuff here randomly as well from time to time.

For those interested in listening to my real life ramblings, please go HERE. This means Imouto Divabat, Tai Ka Che Lin, Che Ches Vivian, Ade, and Celeste, DustyHawk, Yiliang, and John. I'll see you guys about ya? :)

Sincerely, and hoping you had a swell ride so far,

The Mun, Creator and Writer of Collage. ^_^

PS: Please forgive me if I missed anyone.

Edit One (Since I'm sure that there'll be more): New BKRG info for the kids available at [info]bukucontengan. Have fun!

Turn the other cheek

A gentle reminder, taken from the Gospel of Matthew, Chapter 5, verses 38-48.

An Eye for an Eye
“You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’ But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.

Love for Enemies
“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

This is my response to those who would slander the Catholic Church.

In the words of Jesus whom those vile beings (They do not deserve the religion they claim to carry nor the species they are supposed to be from) from the Gospel of Luke, chapter 6, verse 31:

Do to others as you would have them do to you.

Might I ask these men: When can I, as a Catholic, come to your mosque to do the same thing?

Of indulging geekery

  • Jul. 3rd, 2009 at 1:45 PM

After Edrei’s post about pretentious geeks, it got me to thinking about the geeks in my life. The ones I’ve been privileged to meet anyways.

The thing about geeks is that you can’t really spot them a mile away like you used to. Three years ago, you could tell a geek from a non-geek by the amount of gadget speak that came out of his mouth and even more rarely, by the gadgets he has.

Now though, people all talk about gadgets, but not that many actually know what these gadgetry do. Worse, they’re like the Apple fanatics. It’s not “Gotta catch them all” but “Gotta have it all now!” They are the new fanboys rich: buying things simply because they can.

A real geek, on the other hand, takes his time to decide what he really wants. Then when he does get it, he spends hours tweaking it to fit his specifications and his needs. He’s not afraid to get dirty. Most times, he prefers working with his hands.

You could, by that extension, call a geek the modern incarnation of the craftsman. They were men who perfected the art of their craft by learning it well, and then mastering it and taking their creations to a completely new level. They are not afraid to break things; if you can take it apart, you could put it back too.

This, I think, is the greatest mark of a geek. Men or women, male or female, a geek is defined by just how much they are willing to take apart a problem or even a solution, and then put it back together again. They aren’t afraid of messing with the system, cause they know they can fix it back later. Perhaps even make it better.

It doesn’t matter how much money you have. Doesn’t matter how many gadgets you have either. All that matters is that you enjoy the process of tinkering, and that you utilise your resources to the best of your abilities. After all, why get a smartphone when all you really need is a camera phone?

Ok, back to work. Time to see if I can’t break that site. :D

PS: To all the geeks in my life, thank you for your patience in a noob who breaks her PC in many ways and freaks out too often. m(_)m

TTL: Chris Your leather jacket makes you look fat. *points to tummy*

Chris: It’s ok, I’m having Zac Efron’s baby.

Edit: Scroll down for more laughs!

Refer to this poster:

The Copywriter’s Chronicles would like to formally induct TTL as the newest member of the Gutter Order! She contributed this piece:

Me: *To Dria* If you can generate your own static, then you should touch CC and see how he jumps.

CC: Wah, don’t teach people bad things la. *Note: CC is a boy.

Me: True what, last week he touched me, and we both heard the BZZT! He got shocked!

TTL: Geminianeyes… touched you sounds very wrong la.

Me: *Headdesks*

CC: Ya la, make me no value already (aka no more romance value)

Me: … *adds this to the copywriter chronicles*

I must be too lazy to think. Snagged off a couple of people:

List 10 of your favorite characters from different fandoms, and ask people to spot patterns in your choices, and if they’re so inclined, to draw conclusions about you based on the patterns they’ve spotted.

Ruroni Kenshin: Seta Soujirou, Komagata Yumi
Yu Yu Hakusho: Kurama (both personas), Shura, Yomi’s son, Yukina
Fire Emblem: Canas, Erk, Florina, Leila
Blood+: Saya, Diva, Julia, Hagi, Jahanna, Solomon, Riku
Professor Layton: Layton (fangirl him so much!)
Ludwig Kakumei: Briar Rose (Idike)
Angel Sanctuary: Uriel, Rosiel, Katan, Zaphikel
DNAngel: Krad, Hiwatari Satoshi
Saiyuki: Cho Hakkai, Yaone, Kougaiji
Kuroshitshuji: William Spears, Madame Red, Maylene (forgot about this series, and seriously, how can you NOT love a sniper who uses sniper rifles as pistols??)

:P Happy guessing!

Chris: *To Grayfox* Don’t worry, I’ll make you look good.

Rest of the table: *Spontaneous laughter*

Note: This is in reference to Grayfox bringing his GF to meet us. :P

In the lift:

Joicy: *Teasing* Which floor do you want to go? 2nd, 3rd, 4th?

*Note: There is no one at the second floor.

Grayfox: 2nd floor. *gives suggestive look*

Lift: Oooooooooo! *as though Grayfox was going to meet someone there secretly*

Grayfox: *Turns to Chris and gives suggestive look*

Chris: *Oblivious*

Girls: !!!!

And that ends our lunch, part 1.

Edit: Several hours later:

Wind Goddess: You’re very hot, Geminianeyes.

Me: Yes, I know I’m hot.

Note: I sat in her seat for a few minutes cause my MSN was being more pissier than usual.

Grayfox: Whut??? *face shows his mind is in the gutter… AGAIN*

The best friends:

1. Are those who enjoy your company for the sake of your company, and who accept you for being who you are.

2. Are those you can call up at 3am in the morning on the other side of the world to listen to them/you rant about what’s happening in your life.

3. Are not afraid to tell you when you’re being silly.

4. Are ones who make the effort to understand your point instead of agreeing silently.

5. Are the ones you can discuss about how personal or impersonal it is to kill your enemies with a gun or a sword between science fiction and fantasy games (I still think magic beats science in that respect, Edrei!).

6. Are the ones who’ll be the first to wish you Happy Birthday on your birthday, and the last before you sleep (you know who you are, dear uke).

7. Are the ones who aren’t afraid to ask you your opinion of them, and completely accepting of your answer.

8. Are ones who’ll stay back late during setup to make sure there’s enough event bags for the next day. And they work for free! (thank you so much guys! I lub you!)

9. Are the ones who give you hugs each time you meet… and aren’t afraid to hold your hands if you’re frightened.

10. Are the many people I’ve met and cannot name; because you’ve all left touches in my heart.

Thank you for being my friend. :)

The below was a rant I wrote about happenings on my birthday. After reading through it, I realised, there’s no use dwelling on the negatives. Really, what does it get you? At the end of the day, what matters are the people I had fun with, so thank you to all my lovely colleagues who celebrated with me, to all the IRC-ians who gave me wishes and presents, and to my family (parents and aunts/uncles and cousins) for being the people they are. More importantly, thank you to all my friends who stood by me and remembered my birthday. >< I apologise if I forget yours.

You can’t choose your relatives, but you can choose how to react to them. And really, is it so bad to be considerate?
